The 5th annual Radio Disney Music Awards were held this weekend on Saturday and aired on Disney Channel on Sunday. It was held in the Microsoft Theatre in LA.
This was apparently the biggest production of the award show ever, which is why it took 5 hosts to present the show (Jenna Ortega, Jordan Fisher, Sofia Carson, Alex Aiono and Kelsea Ballerini).
The world premiere of the ‘Ways to be Wicked’ music video from Descendants 2 was released at the RDMAs, and let’s just say that it lives up to the hype. See my other post for more details.
There were a lot of performances, including a Moana tribute (oh the harmonies in this performance of Jordan Fisher, Alessia Cara and Auli’i Cravalho were on point), Hailee Steinfeld doing a mash-up of ‘Starving’ and her new song ‘Most Girls’ (#fierce) and Sabrina Carpenter performing ‘Thumbs’ (this was amazing as well).
There was also a Britney Spears tribute performed by Sofia Carson, Hailee Steinfeld, Kelsea Ballerini and special guest Jamie Lynn Spears. Britney Spears was honoured with the first ever Radio Disney Icon award.
I thought it was funny when Jake Paul (who won #Trending: Favourite Social Media Star) brought up with big vlogging camera when he accepted his award. Well, he did win social media star, and YouTube is his thing?
You can watch the full show of the RDMA here:
You can also watch individual performances which are available on the Radio Disney YouTube page.
Could this be the best RDMA show ever???
Forever in Your Mind have just released two new songs!
The first song is called “Smooth”. It is about the push and pull of getting into a relationship, the emotions of the other person and self of whether they like one another. It sounds like an internal dialogue of real events intermingled with imaginary things while trying to figure out feelings for a person.
The second song is called “Missing”. This song is about, perhaps a broken relationship or one that is barely hanging in there. This includes all the emotions associated with this, and “missing” the other person.
You can stream the songs on Spotify, or if you want – it’s available for order on iTunes. Which song is your favourite?
The Radio Disney Music Awards is coming up real soon on April the 29th, and will be broadcast on Disney Channel on April 30.
Last month, some of the performers for the award show were announced which included Jordan Fisher (who just released a new song called ‘Always Summer’), Alessia Cara, Kelsea Ballerini and Train.
Recently, more performers have been announced! These performers are: Hailee Steinfeld (let’s hope she performs ‘Starving), Noah Cyrus (who probably will be performing ‘Make Me (Cry)’), Julia Michaels and the current winner of America’s Got Talent Grace VanderWaal.
There is still time to vote so make sure you vote for your faves! Voting closes on April 9, so not very long.
These performers have made me real excited for the RDMA’s, who else is excited?
The nominees for the Radio Disney Music Awards were announced a week ago, so sorry for the late news post!
A while back, the hosts of the RDMAs were announced and the show will be on April 30th.
The full list of the nominees can be found here. The great thing is – you can vote for them!!
Head along to the Radio Disney webpage to cast your vote for your favourites!! You can vote as many times as you like.
I’m getting more excited as the RDMAs get closer, who else is??
Hey guys! Lots of new music and music videos coming out lately, and today I want to share Alex Aiono’s.
If you don’t know who he is, he is currently a host on Radio Disney and is also hosting at this year’s Radio Disney Music Awards – blog post here if you missed it. In addition to doing all of this, he also has a YouTube channel where he posts covers and does cool mash-ups of songs. He has an audience of 4 million on his channel and has recently released the music video (on his birthday) for his debut single – ‘Work the Middle’. The vocals are really good and there’s some good dance choreography in the video.
Have a look here:
Sofia Carson just released the music video for her new song “Back to Beautiful” featuring Alan Walker. This song has such an important message behind it, especially in today’s world where we judge ourselves based on everything we see online.
Take a look at the video here:
Sabrina Carpenter has just dropped the music video for one of the singles from her second album ‘Evolution’ called ‘Thumbs’.
The music video is set in a New York Subway that looks very similar to the one seen on Girl Meets World (could it possibly be the same one?). This probably is a tribute to Girl Meets World seeing that the show is over 😦 .
In the video, we see a lot of people from different backgrounds commuting on the subway and at times singing along to the song. The basis of the song is about how everyone in the world goes about doing things in an almost similar fashion repeatedly, but we somehow need to break this cycle and not become like everyone else.

Has anyone made sense of the first verse and the connection of all the family members?
